Yes, you are correct. Marking complete on any video challenge/lesson does not register in your stats. It’s logging in or coming through the TAC home page that increments the counter. This works 7 days a week, but only rolls over once per calendar day. I am certain that I completed challenges, but failed to hit the home page and my streak got broken. So if like the idea of maintaining a streak, always make sure you see that it has rolled over on that home page. Sometimes the top number (current day streak) rolls over but the bottom number(longest day streak) doesn’t until you refresh again.

There’s a question mark (?) in a yellow circle at the bottom right on the home screen that takes you to tech support. For me it often doesn’t appear, however.
You can just email Victoria at support@tonypolecastro.com, that works every time.

I did a quick look around, sorry I couldn’t find anything with that title.

This isn’t going to be the answer to your request but I’m just stating how I see the challenges from my perspective after 18 months in TAC. I’m not sure if I understand your question though: would you like Tony to tell us the bpm of the PLAY video.
In the LEARN video he starts off by playing what we are about to learn in close to actual timing. Sometimes he might tell us the bpm of the version the recording artists used but you are correct he doesn’t always do this. It wouldn’t be too hard to pull up a metronome on your phone and sync it to his playing. Maybe I’ll give this a try?
While teaching he typically goes very slow to enable us to follow the fingering and chord progression.
The PLAY videos are slow most of the time (most likely below the bpm in the TAB), again this is an aid for us to learn. Learn slow to reduce mistakes and repeat often. Speed will come naturally. I don’t worry about the speed while I’m doing the challenges, except striving to play it quickly enough to make it identifiable. But this is not always possible

I posted this yesterday, it might help to clear up some things.

Tony wasn’t kidding about the “influx of new members” that he mentioned to start off this thread. I started paging through new members just to get a feel for how many, I went back 30 pages (that makes 600 members) and I still was on Joined Jan 2026.
Since it takes a while to load a page, and you can’t skip I stopped there. Who knows, there might be over a thousand who have joined in the past 2 weeks.

Hopefully @laurie-d-jacksongmail-com will at some point see that a number of fellow TAC members have responded and give us some feedback.

@jjaylandjaol-com welcome to TAC. Your post really resonates with me because I felt the same when I joined at age 65. It wasn’t my very first guitar lesson, that happened 4 months earlier but I was amazed at how well things were moving along during the first 30 days. I was actually “playing guitar”. Don’t get me wrong I’m still a Newb but since being in the TAC program I never doubted that I could become the kind of player I desire to. Ok, I know I’m not going to be a shredder, but I’ll be able to play at family gatherings, jam with some of bros! That’s really what I wanted!
I hope your journey continues to amaze you as it has me!

Now I’ve discovered a new issue and it’s in the forums, it’s not an issue under the Challenges because those posts cannot be edited.
After I have posted something in the forum and decide I want to add more or change some wording, something I’ve doing for years here, this is no longer working as expected.
When I edit my forum post and click on the Post button, my edits are not applied and the reverts back to the original. This has happened to me about 4-5 times now. Just another thing overcome on this website.

@CamiB, many of us have experienced this! Thank-you for asking!
This occurs in the comments area under the challenges and not in the forums. What happens is your first post is without any issues. When you go to add another, it won’t post and you might see a message box with the text:
tonypolecastro.com says
with an OK button in the right bottom cornerThere’s a work around:
- click ok
- copy your post into the buffer with the copy or cut function
- refresh the webpage
- paste in your comment
- try to post
- sometimes it still won’t post but you won’t see an error message box. Make a small change in the text (add punctuation or a word). Now it should post for you!
Support is aware of the issue but says it isn’t affecting enough users to warrant having their IT team correct it. I have chatted with Victoria a number of times about this to no avail.

There’s no reason why you can’t raise the neck high up to where you’re comfortable. Doing this can help improve your posture and reduce strain on your neck and shoulders, us beginners need all the help we can get.

TRUTH! I couldn’t agree more!

Good one @Skyman911
I had this on my mind too. I’m no small guy, about average (5′ 11′) but my favorite guitar to play is 3/4 size. More importantly than it’s the length, the body thickness is about 3 1/2 inches, compared to 4 3/4 on my full size Takamine.

@albert_d the issue isn’t here in the forums, it’s under the challenges where members comment after going through the daily video. I think 99% just post once and there’s no issue. It occurs when you post more than once. Super annoying!

After a reasonable period….LOL! Copyrights typically last for the life of the author plus 70 years!!! But YT has lost their collective minds on the enforcement. In many cases it’s a money grab by YT for the monetization of videos that creators have poured their heart and souls into and not initiated by the band’s representatives.
I’m sure Marty’s video wasn’t of a viral nature and garnering thousands of views, so what’s driving them to suspend or terminate a user’s account? I have no idea!
