  • I personally have a subscription to Ultimate Guitar. I signed up when it was $24.99 for an annual subscription. I believe they run that special regularly. They usually have upwards of 10 TABs for every song you can imagine, each with a difficulty and quality rating.

    Do not try to perfect first time through, probably not even the first 5 times through. It should get better with each repeat but “proficiency” is elusive. You will be repeating a similar skill very soon which will help you get better with the one you are struggling with now! Spend 10 – 20 minutes and mark complete!

    @jim-v-doylegmail-com TAC isn’t linear in its design, it’s more like a circle!

    Not matter where you start you just jump into the daily challenges. They naturally come in variable degrees of difficulty that cycles each month, week and even day by day. Come to the site every day and do as much as you can. It might only be a single line, or a single measure. It doesn’t matter, bite off as much as you can chew for the time you have and mark it . If all you could play was the first 4 notes, still mark it complete. The same skills will be required again in a short time and perhaps you can go a little further then. Consistently playing as often as possible is the key, the order is less important. Sometimes the challenges build on each other during the week, but you can still pick up later and if you have to go back to an earlier day of the week, you will know but I think it’s never really necessary.

    Congrats to 5 years! I think many dabble in other types lessons, there’s no harm in it. I’m on YouTube all the time and learned a thing or 2 but TAC is my staple, the daily bread!

    This is great. I’ve been so busy I haven’t taken the time to record myself (hail damage to my home and my car). You recording yourself, especially the bench marks, will pay great dividends!

    Just for kicks I logged in with my Kindle Scribe, the site looks similar to how it displays on a laptop. As @Philb mentioned, the bar on the left takes you to the resources. Maybe you are looking for the skill courses, click on the music symbol!

    This is really not the device for TAC though, you are much better off with a smartphone unless your kindle is an actual tablet.

    What kind of Kindle? Is it a Kindle Fire? That should work much like a phone would. It would have to be, because a Paperwhite or a Scribe could not be used on the TAC site.

    After logging in, you should be at the home screen and from there you would click on the “hamburger”, the 3 horizontal lines at the top left. This launches a menu from where you can gain access to whatever resources you are looking for.

    @cubmastervaphoneman-com I’m just a beginner myself, but I would say sort’a!
    The fingers will toughen up and spread less but also you will learn to trap the string close to the fret wire and not have to press nearly as hard, your fingers will develop better form over time. I’ve been playing for over a year now and I still mute at times on some basic open chords but as you play transitions more and more this begins to happen less and less. I strongly recommend you move to transitioning rather than just forming the same chord over and over. Pick a chord sequence and just go through it regularly. I’ve been doing this with Hotel California for the past 6 months while internalizing the strum pattern at the same time.

    Yes, it’s normal to think in terms of completion, most of us have been in that very same spot. You’ve got to reframe your thought process, that is crucial because perfectionism will stop you in your tracks and you’ll eventually quit.
    In the beginning there were days I could hardly even begin to attempt the challenge. I went back to the previous days in the week and revisited the Technique and the Guitar lick days; taking those further than I had done was my win for days 4 and 5 when I just wasn’t ready for Rhythms and Chord changes yet.

    Yes the lifetime option is still available, I just purchased it last month. My annual fee was immediately refunded so it’s as if I had purchased lifetime on day 1.

    I was actually in the same situation when I started TAC. I went through the 30 Days and the 5 days in 25 days total. I did some skills in the interim.

    Sorry @joesrtrustlogos-org , I didn’t mean to be flippant with you by just pointing to the guide and saying “Read it!”. This question you asked comes up regularly and I ought to have a database of answers so I can just copy and paste. I try to be as interactive as possible on here but at times I might be a bit short due to time constraints.

    Try not to get too wrapped up in weekly/monthly schedule thinking. TAC is very cyclical and everything taught comes back around. If you finished the 5 Day mid week you could simply pick up the Daily Challenges where you are and ignore Mon – Wed. Also you could go to the skills area, there are myriads of helpful videos in there to occupy you for months. If you have more time you could go back to Day 1 of the week and play through all the challenges of the week. Most weeks I would recommend against doing this, however, this particular week is very light comparatively speaking. It really just focuses on Vibrato and you could go through the entire week in one sitting.
