Why I'm Here | I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1952. After listening to the Beatles, folk and soul music of the period, I decided in 1964 to ask my parents for a guitar. I wanted a Fender Jaguar because I thought the sound of the guitar on the Beach Boys songs was out of this world. My parents helped me decide to purchase a semi acoustic Gibson electric guitar that sounded glorious. I played a beautiful cherry red Gibson ES335 electric guitar until 1970 when I had to choose between music and working for a living. 6 years of college at the University of Maryland followed by Naval Officer schools, 10 years as a Naval Officer 5 more years of college at the University of Washington and another 10 years or so as a Pharmacist, I retired to enjoy music in an amateur capacity. In 2008 a thoughtless 18 year old with a huge 1978 Ford LTD and bald tires lost control of his car, spun completely around 180 degrees on I-5 around Seattle where my wife and I have lived for the past 30 years and hit our tiny Toyota 1988 MR2 2 seater head on. Most of what I had in terms of memory became history and I began the wonderful quest of learning how to play guitar all over again from scratch essentially. I forget what I have just learned almost immediately but I continue to improve with time and effort. My wife presented me with my prize 2014 Taylor Presentation Series Grand Symphony with an Adirondack Spruce top and bracing and a Brazilian Rosewood back and sides for my 63rd birthday. She continues trying to stimulate my interest in relearning music, something I have always loved. My existing guitar collection at this point in addition to the Taylor PS16ce/ brazilian acoustic guitar is: |
City | Music especially guitar music gives pleasure to myself and all those that experience it I believe. The better I get on guitar the better the gift I can share with others. |
