My Guitar Goal
| What I'm Focused On Now | Refresh on the Fretboard Wizard course – I like and need to remember a lot of the information presented in the course . To practice applying the skills highlighted and to experiment using songs from internet sites – improvise in the songs using soloing notes, methods to go beyond the chords used in the songs. Within my guitar routine- focus on one skill then find a song to use that skill to practice. Have been re-doing the courses in stage two ( technique section) especially the flat-picking and cross-picking courses. I would like to get better at Travis picking as well. |
My Guitar Routine
| This is How I TAC | Four years of TAC I play at least once a day five days in the week sometimes more days. I play at least an hour and often two hours of practice and exploring techniques-revisiting the courses, or songs from the TAC website as well as other YouTube websites .I always play a few songs to sing from songs offered on UG or YouTube websites. I try to memorize the songs for sharing. I most often play after supper but sometimes mid afternoon. Â I play in my music room most often but sometimes in my sunny living room and occasionally, weather permitting, outside in our screened in veranda. Â I play twice a week with two different guitar groups and a third time with an online guitar group.

| Why I'm Here | I love playing my guitar(s). I played in the 60’s to the mid eighties – self-taught – very basic but I could and did play and sing throughout high school and university events within and outside of curriculum studies. I stopped playing (except occasionally) in the late eighties but did continue music and theatre via teaching/ coaching in theatre productions. My playing skills definitely fell by the wayside. When I retired I came back to  attempting to play and was disappointed to find I really did not play well, knew little about the fretboard even though I had piano theory/ piano level five but how to connect this knowledge to apply to guitar. I found TAC on YouTube as well as a few other instructors- I followed YouTube lessons for almost a year before I joined TAC . TAC lessons were so logically set up, excellent verbal and visual explanations making them easy to follow.  I have improved immensely after two years – in skill level, playing with confidence and playing experiences. I am still working to improve all my guitar skills and  having fun. I have also taken mandolin lessons at a week of Celtic college in 2019 – I hope to continue to learn to play the mandolin ( got a long way to go)  I am also taking classical guitar lessons ( interrupted via COVID) but resuming in April and have been working from audio lessons.  The fretboard Wizard course really prepped me for these lessons. ( notes and scales).  I am thankful I joined TAC and am now a lifetime member ( 2019)  I am working on three songs ( at the same) time, from the song vault. I will hopefully be able to post these in 2021!!!!! i now have a banjo and will start to earn to play it. I am a fair picker so hopefully I will catch on in good tie. I also now play the harmonica – getting back  to playing it from the 70s-and taking on line lessons these last two years. |
