the sound of acoustic guitars has always plucked my actual heartstrings. it has been my lifelong wish to learn to speak from my heart through a guitar
I am the grateful owner of a few sweet companions, a handmade guitar I made in a Luthier class, a Koa Baby Taylor, a Martin OM28e, two plug-in parlor guitars, (Guild and an Art and Lutherie,) a sturdy and honey toned Martin DX-1 dreadnought, a beat up Fender F-35 that I traded an Ovation for in college, a tiny Washburn Rover travel guitar and a Yamaha Telecaster copy whose strings are rusting off.
I need to be around guitars and the people who play them. Playing music is noble “work” and keeps us alive in spirit, continued learning of this musical language keeps us nimble and mentally sharp, and playing with others deepens the process in ways that accelerates the learning and deepens the experience. I want my 8 year old daughter to learn the beauty of music firsthand at home.
