Why I'm Here

I am a 56 year old that recently retired after a 37 year career with a major communications company. I took up playing the guitar some eight years ago, when I was coerced by my wife’s boss to engage in a 12 week course once a week for three hours to learn the fundamentals of the instrument, which was something I had always wanted to do since I was a youngster. To this day, I’m so glad I did! I was addicted from day one of learning

That being said, I have purchased a sold acoustic guitars along the way. My very first acoustic was a Seagull 25th anniversary all solid wood guitar. It was amazing for a beginner’s first guitar. That was soon followed up by a Breedlove Black Magic Concert E/A. The buying continued; a Guild GAD 12 string (Wow!).

To this day, my collection consists of the Guild GAD 12 string, Martin DCPA4, Larrivée D-40, Alvarez MF-75 Cedar/Rosewood, an Alvarez Grateful Dead 50th Anniversary collector guitar, and a Stonebridge G23LR. So yes, I have become an addict for playing and collecting. All the others were previous were sold.

To this point in those eight years, I have managed to learn and play songs (thanks to YouTube), I can play chords fluidly struggling every now and then with the odd bar chord. Not happy with just being able to strum songs, I wanted to expand my playing to finger playing, learning to manage the fretboard if playing with others, and just basically wanting to strive to be better. I am always in 'awe' of those who can play the guitar like it's no effort! That's what I would like, but in eight years of playing I have only focused on just learning to play songs. I figured that this TAC would allow me to do just that…I hope!
