| Why I'm Here |
Hi everybody,
This is Steve. (EDIT- OK, since there seems to be an abundance of “Steve Ks, I’m going to go by an old nickname – Deadoweyn, so don’t be confused) I started playing at about 13 years old but put it away after college. I started up again about 10 yrs ago when my wife found my guitars. So, for the record I never broke up, I just took a 34 year vacation.
I’ve been taking lessons here and there to get over the ambiguity of online/youtube self teaching. I’ve found that a mentor can be a real help in sorting out what to learn and when to learn it. Tony seems to have one of the best “handles” on putting a program together that I’ve yet to find. And the way he explains things fits the way I learn. At least so far. So, here I am in TAC.
I’m retired from IT (thank the gods) and I have GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome). Currently I have: ’59 LP Jr., an SLO (Strat Like Object), I think it’s an Aria, ’68 Gibson J-200, Alvarez 5220 CE N, Fender Squire Bass, ’03 Gibson ES 137 Custom, ’93 LP STD, ’88 Dels (acoustic by a local luthier, Del Langejens, Holland, MI, retired)
I like several genres of music but my favorites are classic, progressive and alt rock. CSNY to Gilmour, Beck(Jeff) to Zeppelin.
I can’t leave guitars alone. And if I’m going to pick one up and play it, I should be able to do so with some expertise (and not suck).
