Why I'm Here

I’m a network engineer, originally from New Zealand, living in central London and I’ve always been into music. I started learning a few years in NZ and fell in love with acoustic guitar.
I own an acoustic/electric Ibanez Montage. The first song I ever learned was Good Riddance by Green Day.  In recent years I’ve fallen out of touch with my music and have severely dropped in skill. Despite having gone through periods of trying to learn music theory and the fret board, life often gets in the way. I’ve joined this site to try and push through that wall that I think a lot of people face whereby they only know 4 or 5 pieces of songs and their guitar gathers dust in the corner most of the year. I’ve always got a buzz (no negative pun intended) from playing songs that I love. It’s one thing to listen to a song, but to be able to play it heightens the experience and, to be honest, is really good fun.I find guitar a really good way to chill out and I’d love to get to a stage where I can improvise and jam with other guitarist (including my Dad) without having to worry about things like fret buzz, chord transitions or fret board knowledge.
