Is that like, “No one can move a parked car.” You need to put it in gear for it to move. The initial action must come from you.

I’m really trying to empty my glass in order to learn a new system here. I hope we can both work on giving TAC a chance to work in us. I know I’m going to give it a fair shake before I toss in the towel.

Jeff,
You’re right! I need to jettison my expectations. It’s true, expectations are were fun goes to die. I will try to remember this as well. Thanks for taking the time to teach this old dog some new tricks!

Thanks, Pete! I really appreciate your insights and will try to remember them when I get frustrated again! Not linier–important to remember!

JT,
I haven’t even considered recording myself yet. I HATE the thought of putting myself on “tape” and watching myself fumble along looking brainless. Perhaps at some time in the future, I’ll have the courage to do it, but not yet. Thanks for the support and encouragement, it is appreciated! I’ll “hang in there”

Thanks, Pete, I appreciate your response and take heart from your experience!

Matt,
I appreciate your reassurance and will forge on. I need to realize that I just need to learn what I can and be satisfied with that. The truth is that I want to make music NOW and not fumble along like I have been for so many years. I also know nothing good comes without paying the price. Time to open my wallet!

Jorge,
Just wanted to thank you, again, for this tip. It is helping me familiarize my fingers with the form of the F-cord. I can easily move the E, B and G strings up the fretboard and it sounds good using the frets you suggested. Next, holding down the B and E strings with my index finger and moving up the neck. This just may be the way to get this F cord figured out!

Jorge,
I appreciate the support and the benefit of your experience. I’ll start working on this technique immediately. I have always been a hands-on learner but believe that I can follow your directions well enough to get them down. If it helps me nail the “F” cord, I will be eternally grateful!

Pete,
I turn 62 in June so we have known the same presidents. I will have to settle for leaving the high E string in he lurch for now as you suggest. Thanks for the support, it means a lot to me!!
-
Matt,
Thanks for the support and encouragement! I’ve been doing something similar to what you suggest to “adjust” and “compensate” to make the F cord work but it isn’t the best solution. I’ll need to keep working on it. I really don’t want to “give up” but I need to rekindle the fire I had when I signed up for TAC.
-
I appreciate the support and your commiserating with me! I’ll give the guitar body trick a try. Many thanks!
-
I remember when I was first learning the basic cords and how long it took me to get them down. I’m rusty and getting my fingers to remember what they knew so long ago. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep working on my end and, hopefully, we will both be jamming out soon!

Moose,
Thanks for the insights into how this works. I didn’t know about the challenges returning. That makes sense that by repeating the challenges, we should be able to improve little by little (especially in my case). It’s encouraging to me that you have been at this for two years and have seen success using the TAC system. I’ll keep with it and just have to accept that where I am in the process is sufficient.

I’m new to TAC and am beginning to appreciate that there is a community of fellow guitar players who are there to encourage me and help me stay focused. I can only hope to one day be able to feel the songs flow “effortlessly” through MY fingers.
