thanks @petelanger , @Philb , @DPC71 for having a listen. If someone told me at the beginning of my guitar journey that after years of hard work and time learning the guitar it would lead to just one moment like this I would say it is worth it!

@Braden thats awesome. The world needs music, needs guitars, and most importantly people like you willing to step in and share your talents with others who will benefit from having music in their life ! Thanks for stepping up !

@DiscostewLA Wow you made my day ! Good for you getting involved and helping our Vets ! I am so glad you were able to find a chapter that worked out for you. I have had to take a break due to a broken shoulder but I am almost to the point where I could teach again. Is your Chapter having any problems getting guitars ? In Washington State we got put on hold because they only had 4 guitars allocated to the entire state.

@Coreena Thanks for listening. I am sure you will be playing songs like this in no time. With this particular song I feel less is more. The more I play it, the less strumming I actually play, opting for space and let the lyrics shine through.

When I put my guitar in the living room on a stand vs having it a case, things changed for me. I found myself picking it up multiple times in a day – sometimes for just a few chord strums – but it was always out. Muscle memory really accelerated. One other drill is to find a few songs with chords in your wheel house and play along with a recording of them. You dont have to play it exactly, maybe just strum on the down beat. Overtime your brain will start to feel lyric phrasing while your strumming hand is finding the beat and your chord hand is finding the frets. Wont be too long where you will be able to play the songs without the recording. It worked for me early in my journey. Happy playing guitar man.

thanks ! recovery is proceeding along, slow but surely. I can finally get my arm around the guitar but only for about 10 minutes before it starts to hurt too much. I am hoping that time span will increase over the next couple of months

thanks Braden, I wish I had a video of my daughter singing harmony on the song – she really adds great richness to it. I hope to get that on video someday !

Thanks @BarbaraM I am glad to report that during my recovery time I have done all of those things. Even have one song complete and another in work. I also was able to slowly ease an acoustic guitar under my arm the other day. I cant hold it properly but its almost there!
