Same thing just happened to me today. This should have been day 91, but the counter shows me starting a new streak today. I have contacted support and am awaiting an answer.

Nice job, Bill! I really enjoyed the drop-D challenges this week.

Hello. I was in a similar situation as you. I joined TAC in the fall of 2024, but because of a serious health issue (I’m better now, BTW), I wasn’t able to play much. I basically started over in April, 2025, beginning with the 30 Day Challenge. You said that you’ve completed that. In that case, you probably want to go through the sample 5 Day Routine. (It’s one of the icons on the left side of your TAC home page.) The 5 Day Routine explains all about how to get started with the daily challenges. Once you complete that, you can then move on to the “regular” daily challenges. Don’t worry about missing out on anything…as I understand it, each daily challenge is played again every 9-12 months (don’t quote me as to the actual timing). You might also want to read through the introductory pdfs that you probably got links to in your TAC welcome e-mail. Hope this helps.

Just to reiterate what others have stated…definitely start with the 30 day challenge (4 weeks). After you’ve completed that, move on to the sample 5 day routine (1 week). If you don’t complete these first, the regular daily challenges probably won’t make much sense. By all means, go through the introductory pdfs, which offer detailed information on how to get started.

By the way, I’m in a similar situation as you. I’m 68 and retired a couple of years ago and have no guitar experience. I’m fairly new to TAC myself (60 playing sessions, including a couple of stops and restarts). There are days when I think I can’t do this, but there are more days when I surprise myself at how far I’ve come. I think you’ll enjoy the course. Stick with it, try to play at least a little every day, and you’ll do great.

    Welcome, and Good luck!

This is my first go-round with a benchmark song, having just completed the 5-Day Challenge two weeks ago. Looking forward to sharing my progress. Okay, here’s a dumb question…is it expected that I practice the benchmark song every week from now on (in addition to subsequent daily challenges), or do most people wait until the benchmark song comes around again in the rotation to pick it up again? I’d like to hear what the more experienced TAC members do. Thanks.

I use a “thinner” Dunlop Tortex (.50 or .60 mm). I’m fairly new at guitar. Some more experienced musicians have said that a thinner pick is better for acoustic guitar playing in general, and that a thinner pick makes it easier for beginners to strum. You might want to buy a packet of picks that have a variety of thicknesses and try them out to see which feels best for you.

I forgot to mention that Dunlop picks are very reasonably priced. At my limited experience level, I’m not certain I can justify a $35 pick. I seem to be doing just fine with my Dunlops ($5.49 for a pack of 12).

Hello Pete. I’m a relative newbie (to both TAC and guitar in general), and your comments on the forums are very helpful. I’ve always been a perfectionist, so knowing I don’t have to “get it perfect” the first time through is very encouraging. Thanks for your frequent positive input.

I think the original poster was asking how many weeks of original challenges there are before they start to repeat themselves. I had seen an online review of TAC where it was noted that there were nine months of challenges before they begin to repeat. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.
