Why I'm Here

I taught myself to play a few years ago so I wouldn’t have to rely on a piano player or sing acapella at church. I am adequate but I don’t consider myself a “good” player. I still play mostly at church and church related events like revivals, weddings, funerals etc. I have 4 acoustic guitars: 2000 Martin D-2R, 2008 Taylor 514ce, 2009 Taylor 416ce-FLTD and a 2013 Taylor 812e.Updated Guitar list Junes 2019(2018 Martin D28, 2013 Taylor 812e, 2000 Martin D-2R, 2008 Taylor 514ce, OLD Yamaha FG75) Formerly owned a Fender acoustic and electric, 2018 Martin D16GT and a 2009 Taylor 214ce. I have a grown son and a beautiful, loving wife. BLESSED!

City

I have come to a point where I am not learning anymore on my own and it is holding me back in my enjoyment and opportunities to step up. I made a CD of original Christian songs a couple years ago and I was surprised at how bad my playing was as far as timing and playing clean. The project took about 4 times longer than it should have and my playing was the culprit. I want to be able to play with better musicians and I want to make another CD.  I don't want to just sing on my CD. I want to play the guitar on it rather than hire a studio musician.  I have always loved music of all kinds but never took the time to really learn theory. So here I am. I want to move from being a useful guitar player to becoming a good or, maybe even, a very good one.
