| Why I'm Here |
I first taught myself chords and strums in Junior High school; my parents bought a Global 3/4 guitar from a department store. It had heavy steel strings that were lifted about a half inch off the fretboard! Eventually, I purchased my 1978 Guild D-35 and my playing improved. While in college I took a year of classical guitar and purchased my Takehari guitar. I would love to learn more about this guitar, which I named “Rosalita” after Springsteen’s song. To my surprise, I was very good at classical music. Many years have gone by sometimes playing, many times not. I am facing retirement from teaching with plenty of time to devote to getting better on the guitar, traveling to festivals and having fun! In 2015 purchased a Martin 00015SM. I was shopping for a travel guitar to take to festivals; however, I found a simple yet handsome mahogany guitar. I like this smaller, lighter, quality guitar with a 1 3/4 inch nut.
