Why I'm Here

My stepfather gave me a 1973 Guild F30 that he purchased back in the 70/80’s at a garage sale for $100, and I had it about 20 years but never knew how to play it.  I love the acoustic guitar, and I figured that since I was locked away in my home due to Covid19, why not take a look at what I could find on the internet.  As I was searching YouTube, one of Tony’s advertisements popped up, and it intrigued me enough to click on it.  I needed something that was simple but effective, because I worked full time and I was the sole caregiver for my 88 year old mother who has dementia.  I initially signed up for a year subscription thinking that would give me plenty of time to see if the program was all hype or for real.  I quickly fell into the 30 Days to Play Challenge and I was shocked at what I learned in such a short time.  Who woulda thunk that someone could learn some pretty cool things in such short order?  I was sold.  After the 30 Days to Play course and the Next 6 Barre Chords, I began on the daily lessons and began taking the Fingerpicking Jumpstart.  I haven’t looked back since, and just a few short months into TAC, I was sold and I bought into the Lifetime Membership.  It’s been 8 months (at the time of this writing), and I own 5 guitars, and I’ve played in the virtual open mics, posted videos online, and become a true guitar geek.

My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

I will take each daily lesson for the minimum 10 minutes per day.

I will complete one flatpicking and one fingerpicking song.

I will participate in at least 3 virtual open mics (VOM).

I will complete a video of me playing Hotel California and post it to the TAC site.

I will answer at least one TAC post in the forums each day.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

In a perfect week

1.  How many times will you play? In a perfect week, I’ll play daily (7xweek)

2.  When will you play? I do my daily lessons every weekday at 11:30 a.m.  I typically practice scales, finger exercises while sitting on my couch in the evenings (during commercials on t.v.).  I practice a fingerpicking or flatpicking song that I’m working on around 12:00 p.m. every weekday, and several times throughout the day when I pick up the guitar for 10-15 minute stretches.  I’m also working on a few songs, and I’ll practice them right after practice during the lunch hour and throughout the day/evening during 10-15 minute stretches.  I spend more time on these songs on the weekends.

3.  Where will you play? I always practice on my lunch hour during the week in my bedroom (that’s where my laptop typically is).  I practice during the 10-15 minute breaks typically in my livingroom.  I’m in the process of converting a space in an upstairs vacant bedroom to a music room, but I have guitars in several rooms of the house and I can reach for one wherever I am.
