| Why I'm Here |
Like many of you, I imagine, I took up guitar late in life. While I sometimes wish I’d started sixty years ago, I know that things like this come to you when you’re ready. And I am definitely ready.
I bought my first guitar eight years ago, so I suppose that’s how long I’ve been playing. But it still feels very new to me.
The thing that has surprised me — and delighted me — most about guitar is that, forgive me, but at a certain age, you’re generally not getting better at anything. In fact, you’re getting worse at pretty much everything. But not guitar! I am definitely getting better every day. And it feels so good.
What do I need to work on as a guitar player – aside from EVERYTHING? I’d say my mental map of the fretboard and more fluid strumming. In my dreams I’m also a finger-picker. But in reality, that seems totally out of reach.
Also: Deep Deadhead.
