It looks like Tony is only playing measure 6 according to the tab (i.e. open B string) on the Slow video. During the Section 3 and Medium and Fast videos he is leaving his pinky on the 3 fret of the B string (i.e. D note). Since this is being played over a G chord (G – B – D), then either way will work fine since both notes are in the chord.
It looks and sounds to me like in measure 6 you are keeping your pinky on the third fret of the B string, which would be a D. The tab has it as an open B string. Am I deceiving myself?
My pinky finger is not very strong. Its specially difficult to do the chord for the measure 6. Can I use middle and ring fingers for the modified G. It is slightly easier to get the index finger on the first fret of the high E with this fingering. Will it cause problems later in the song?
Shameema,
Not necessarily 🙂 I would say play it the way that is most comfortable for you right now and then as your fingers develop strength try to use that different G shape 🙂 Keep up the great work!!!
Cheers,
Tony
