TAC Down under
This is how I TAC Down under
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I play 6-7 days a week.
2.) What time of day do you play?
As a single mum working 3 jobs plus being a volunteer firefighter I don’t have much spare time to play, so I get savvy about it. My kids clean up the kitchen after dinner and I use that time to do the daily lesson, I also diligently take my guitar to work with me every day and practise during my lunch break….I am getting a little more confident now and sometimes play in front of my co workers!
3.) Where do you play?
At home I have put a chair with no arm rests in the living room (which is also my bedroom) and I put the computer on the coffee table. At work I play in the back seat of my car, or if I’m feeling confident I’ll sit out with my coworkers and play outside. I have also been known to play guitar while on firefighter duties.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Before TAC I hadn’t really had much of a routine since I was a teenager. Life happened and last year in about March I found a beat up old guitar in my then housemates caravan. I started to play again with random TABs and youtube videos. Needless to say, I hit a wall pretty quickly and fell into a directionless overwhelmed rut….until I stumbled onto Tony’s Acoustic Challenge.
Thanks to TAC I have direction and purpose. The daily lessons have been amazing building blocks and I can now go back to some of the songs that stumped me in the beginning and play them with ease.
Some days when I don’t feel like it, or don’t have the inspiration I will still sit down and do the daily lesson, then often feel inspired and continue playing for a while after. (sometimes my kids remind me by asking if I’m going to do a guitar lesson…thanks kids!)
Consistency and dedication really pay off, my old housemate recently commented on how well I am playing and she was totally inspired by how I have consistently shown up and kept working on it. Her words were along the lines on “If you want to learn a skill and get good at it you just need to keep doing it” She is right!
My photo-not that I regularly practice on duty at road closures, but I will play whenever and wherever I can get the chance!
