How I TAC – JW
How many days per week do you play?
I play probably 7 days a week if I have a guitar handy. Last month I was traveling and didnt have a guitar so I went to the local GC and bought a cheap one to take with me. Unfortunately my days a week on TAC have been inconsistent. I am stationed overseas and sometimes my phone doesnt stream my daily lessons well.
2.) What time of day do you play?
It depends. I know when i joined TAC I made commitments but being in the military tends to throw some additional challenges my way. During a normal day I play in the early evening and on the weekends mid morning. Right now I am stuck in mandarory quarantine after returning from my trip so I am on my guitar by 9 AM.
3.) Where do you play?
I most consistently play in my living room. But, sometimes I go to a secluded beach and play. While I was home on vacation i found myself in my garage or in front of a small campfire with some friends and family around. I dont think I am all that good, but they never seem to mind or agree with me.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Before I joined TAC i had no routine and struggled to make any real progress at improving. Since TAC:
– I have improved my fretting and picking strength, stamina and accuracy.
– I have challenged myself to tackle songs that I would have never attempted before TAC. I was truly suprized with the amount of finger and flat picking that is TAC. I honestly expected more strumming like I found on almost every video on the web I watched prior to TAC.
– well, my guitar journey has been anything but consistent, even since I joined TAC but, my routine as unroutine as it is has been extreemly rewarding and on 19 April I started my second year with TAC. I am not the most consistent member but am a proud member just the same.
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
My one consistent item that is not a guitar is intangible; calm. Playing the guitar allows me to let the day, week or month just fade away for a little while.
