How many days a week do you play?

I try to play at least five days a week. My goal is to log in every day for at least 10 minutes. If I am having problems with a lesson, I usually go back to it on the weekends.

    What time do you play?

I usually play after my morning workouts, between 5am and 6 am. On the weekends, I sometimes play mornings as well as evenings.

    Where do you play?

I play in my computer/office space, specially when I’m trying to focus. I sometimes play on the sofa, or at the dinning room table, when I’m going over a fingerpicking pattern or just noodling around.

What was my guitar life like before a routine? How was it after, and how did having a routine help?

Before I had a guitar routine, I would strum the open chords or play a few picking patterns. I did a lot of YouTube surfing. I would find something I liked , and try to play it. This didn’t last long. I’d put the guitar away for months, then pick it up again. Then start the same process all over again,

After I started my guitar routine, I have developed a greater understanding of the guitar. I can understand the fretboard! This is a big deal for me. Funny thing though, now that I can understand it, my fingers are not quite in step with my eyes.

Now that I have a routine in place, I can adapt what I learn in my daily lessons to what I can play. Lets say that a lick is to fast, but I know what key I am playing in, I adjust it to something that I can play. I can add a slide, until a hammer on is easier or vise versa. I still study other styles of music. But I have had a greater success with the TAC format. I feel that before my routine, I was looking for that non existing miracle program. I could watch and get it without putting the work. Work is necessary, but in this case, it sounds so daunting. Tac helped me put the FUN back into my journey.

What is the one non-guitar item that is a must to have, in my guitar routine?

I usually have a cup of green tea.
