Played guitar with others for the first time in a long time
One of my 90-day goals (for the last three quarters) was to play at a jam, and I finally got off my butt and did it! I went to a local meetup with a nice jam group, played decent rhythm guitar, sang a little, and played a break or two. It was so fun!
I haven’t played with other people for many years. I’ve been too “up in my head” with unnecessary perfectionism and self-consciousness to take the step. Plus I’ve always been a little avoidant of meeting groups of new people.
Well, let’s just say that the fears were totally unfounded. The other players were welcoming and positive, the vibe was awesome, and my little mistakes got buried in the mix. The experience was totally rewarding. If you’re like me and have been sitting on the fence, find a jam group and go for it!
Also, the TAC skill courses on jamming went a long way in helping calm my nerves about going. I’d recommend those to anyone new to a jam. Or skip the skill courses and just go! 🙂
