  • Wrote my first Blues song this week

Posted by Moonhare on February 8, 2022 at 11:05 am

Yes, I know I’ve always said hell will freeze over before you hear me sing a song, but last weekend I wrote my first ever Blues and in a couple of days I’ve got it to a stage where I can definitely sing and play at the same time. That is a pretty epic small win for me so my “comfort zone” has been officially left in the gutter, where any good blues always begins. 🤟😎🎸

That is fantastic ! Singing and playing can seem like a brick wall. Choosing to run through it can feel like a daunting endeavor – I know it was for me. Now you are on the other side of the wall – keep it going! Congratulations!

Thanks @TMutter . Great image you posted there. I have always found learning lyrics difficult but it helps if you’ve written them yourself as you have it all locked in a bit better then.

Thanks @Bill_Brown @Duane58 @stevieblues . I intend to play this live at the Scones VOM next week (which was one of my pledges at the 90 day progress party) so it’s death or glory time I guess! I will record the live stream and if it is anything near a reasonable performance I’ll post it on Play For Us.

Thanks. I had to run through the blues skill course first but at least I can play it in one key now!

Wow- that is great stuff there– a BIG win!

I’m not there yet- but working on it….

A buddy of mine who has played in various local bands in our area for ~30 years recently said to me- “The hardest thing about the first time you play and sing in front of people ISN’T the actual playing & singing– (you’re ready for that!)– it’s the realization within you that you are willing to make a complete fool out of yourself…….. and……..you are OK with that……. Once you have accepted that- it’s easy from then on”.

As I said- I’m not there yet. Actually, a lo-o-o-ong ways off. So I admire what you are doing- (and I don’t think I’m alone🙂).

Thanks for starting this post- others are following in your footsteps.

He is right there. The ridiculous thing for me is I’ve played thousands of gigs, from small pubs to Festivals and Arenas…. but I was playing keyboards 🎹. And now I’m more nervous about playing an acoustic guitar to a dozen friendly TAC family members from the comfort of my own studio! Go figure. 🤟😎🎸
