Month 2 of logging daily small wins.
Here I go onto a new month of posting my week day small wins: sounding out random songs and writing down the notes.
It gives me a sense of accomplishment before going onto the daily challenge, the anchor of my routine.
Tonight I sounded out Motherless Child in key of C. It turned out to be a great tune to improvise with hammer on and pull-offs and playing around with adding quick notes between the melody line. I may try it with a backing track.
Try it… it may bring for you as it has for me some satisfaction even though it is a sad tune in these tragic times.

@Brian2501 Really cool win! I can find the key of a song, but I have a difficult time determining the chords, even following the normal 1, 4, 5 format. I think I need to be better at playing too, in order to make it sound like a song. Something to aspire to – on my to do list.

Well so far I’m just sounding out the melody lines and writing down the notes. Sometimes I try to add chords…but that takes me a long time.
Regarding the key I usually try to start with C as the 1st note or G or A …not always sure what key I’m in…some are easier to figure out then others.

You are doing a great job @Brian2501. I can’t sound out a song to save my soul. I will have to practice doing that a little more than just learning how to play a song.

Today I tried to sound out Beach Boys’ Cal Girls.
Had a hard time with it which makes me realize how what seems like a simple tune kind of gets complex with what I think are key changes.
!/2 a small win for getting half the tune down!
