A huge win for me today
Crazy day
Could not help but share this with you today.
At around 6PM I took a tumble on my bike on the way to the bank.
I looked down at my hand and my left ring finger was quite askew (see 1st pic) and it sure looked broken. My first thought, of course, is how am I going to do my guitar routine tonight???
It so happened there’s an ER on the way to the bank so I stopped in —they said it would take 2 to 3 hours to see me…so I iced it and soaped it and got my wedding band off and thought about the TAC geeks who had injuries but figured a way to stay on course and basically kept cursing my stupidity on the bike.
They let me in a half hour and took the xray below
I was able to glance at it from a distance and thought I was in real trouble. But….
The PA said it was dislocated, and grabbed my finger and with all her strength tried to relocate it. She is a petite woman and I was starting to think maybe I should give it a try, but after the 5th attempt she did it…we were both high fiving and laughing.
She sent me on my way…
Here’s how it came out right after she did her magic.(last pic)
Went to the bank, biked home….
And believe it or not I can gingerly make chords tonight and even do some of that muting from tonight’s challenge that I have such a hard time with…but actually got the hang of it for the 1st time.
So hardly missing a beat 5 hours later…I can’t believe it…I really thought my finger was broken. Will have to take it easy and modify the lessons a bit but the fretting was really not that bad at all.
And tonight I sounded out the melody line and noted “Don’t go breaking my heart”
A big win for me and I think the PA who cured it felt pretty good too…maybe just a small win…but the whole ER was cheering us!
