Cement Mixer – Little by Slow
The Cement Mixer lick is great – however I was a bit concerned I may never get it right. Part of my goals at TAC is accuracy, tone and not quality. I watched Tony’s lesson and the “play” video and then had a look at the tab. I tried to play along with Tony but even at 0.5 speed I was way out of sync.
Finally I started my own metronome at 60 and played the lick as if it were quarter notes. once I was able to play it cleanly I increased the BPM and did that again. After much practice my metronome was up to 150 – which kind of simulated 16th notes.
I went back to Tony’s example and the play along video and was able to nail it! 😀
