Great job @Loraine ! It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you play – just have fun and enjoy yourself! 😀 Thanks for posting and sharing your performance.

I had not been aware of Lee Hazlewood nor this song before your post. Love the song – of course I also like some good dark comedy as well! I will be adding this song to my “want to learn” list as a result of your post.

As far as timing and tempo is concerned, playing with a metronome is helping me quite a bit. I find the metronome very useful in learning the daily challenges as well. Also, I play along with the song to get a feel for the tempo and style of the song. If I need to slow it down to learn it I use a couple apps on my iPhone or iPad:

    The Chord Detector

    Capo

They both provide the chords to the song, ability to adjust song tempo and the ability to transpose the song to a different key.

A warning about Capo – I bought it years ago for a one time fee. Now the app developers are charging an annual fee and up charging for features. Just wrong if you ask me.

The Chord Detector is cheap and cheerful.

There are also any number of alternative apps that do similar things that may be more up-to-date than these.

    Play on! 🎸

Really appreciate the feedback and recommendations @Kitman . The metronome and I have a love hate relationship, but you’re right, it does help. I’ll check out the apps you mentioned.

Absolute on track play to have fun @Loraine keep taking on more challenges something I do when I want to learn a picking pattern is mute the guitar with the left hand and use just the right hand work the pattern not even worry about what the left is doing I find it better for getting it down good job keep on pickin

Really appreciate the suggestion @KevinZ . I have done that before, but introducing the left hand just slows me way down and the right hand forgets how to function,
