  • NO! NOT tippy toes!

I was hashing away this morning when I started trying to drive home a very basic rule of guitars: finger TIPS(!). Every once in a while I will notice that Im using more of the fleshy part of my fingers when doing chords. I have to think myself into using the tips otherwise the note is blunted. Is it because I goofed or is it because Ive accidentally committed that error to muscle memory? I hope not the latter. The win is spotting the error and working on changing it. Recording helps a lot. Let that be a lesson boys and girls.

@MrFreddy, I found myself doing the same thing, sort of defaulting to the fleshy part because of short fingers. So, I have started slowing down on the finger exercises to focus more on making the tips hit, especially on the pinky.

    MrFred-

Small wins like yours remind us- (at least me for sure)- of those little things that are soooo important in playing guitar.

Like many, maybe, I find that I get “lazy” sometimes with using the fingerTIPS **only** when playing, but then again, I think I’m really sort of a sloppy player anyway- (I got fingers, elbows, etc, flyin’ all over the place).

I really enjoy watching most of the “Play for Us” posts that show more precision and efficiency finger-wise, because that’s what the eventual goal is(?)—- more controlled, more efficient movement, and more accurate.

Your post reminding us- (well— me for sure)- is a good thing!!!

    Thanks for sharing-
