  • Navigation Questions from a New Guy…

Posted by handymandan928 on October 20, 2022 at 3:36 pm

Hello from SE Arizona Upper Chiricahua Desert Country.

I’m having questions regarding the web-site layout … I’m going through the first 30 days program everyday , watching the Tuesday show and doing the daily challenges…sometimes a page comes up and it says that I did’nt log in right or push a button somewhere ,because it looks like I’m playing hookey, instead of burning the midnight oil … but I don’t know how to go to that page and change things on it ,so my questions are:

1.) should I be “clocking in” somewhere when I come in or before I leave …?

2.) Am I supposed to even be doing the daily challenges at this stage …? something in the back of my mind is telling me that these exercises seem a little tough for someone that is a total beginner. FWIW,I’m not a total beginner myself perhaps intermediate is a more appropriate title , but is it harmful in any way to just do them anyway.?

Thanks for any helpful tips or directions of how to properly use the system here.

    THXX, Dan

Hi @handymandan928 and welcome to TAC.

There are three important things to do to make sure your sessions are logged correctly.

First log in to a fresh session every day. In my routine I log in in the morning and then make sure log out each night

Second, you must be”active” on the site (which it sounds like you certainly are!) by doing the challenge or a skills course. When you complete a challenge you may get a message something like “that material will not be available…”. This is referring to the next days challenge. It seems like the site is programmed to roll to the next challenge once you complete your current challenge.

Third, when you complete the challenge, make sure you mark it complete by clicking in the “completed” button.

There is no place in the site for you to “log” your activity. There is a downloadable PDF journal for you to use to log your daily journey – it is not at all interactive with the site.

If you navigate to the support area on the site there is a post or two about how TAC counts sessions – much better than I just did above! 😃

As far as doing the 30 Days to play and challenges at the same time – have at it! As long as your routine supports it and you are having fun go for it!

Hope this was helpful. Again, welcome to TAC!

Hello @handymandan928 , welcome to TAC. I hope your guitar journey here is fruitful and fun. I believe @Kitman has touched on all the important elements of your questions. I would like to reiterate that you should log-off when you’ve completed your sessions for the day. To clarify, at the top right of the screen where your picture and moniker are located, there is a drop down box which at the bottom is the choice to log-off. It may seem to be a pain in the a## to log-in and log-out, but the workings of the site should be smoother.

Nothing wrong with doing the Daily Challenge along with the 30 Days To Play if you feel you can handle it – it’s your journey and you get to choose the path, but remember to make sure that you feel like your having fun while doing it. That may sound silly, but having fun is important because if you’re not, then you may feel like NOT picking up your guitar. Picking up your guitar every day is important because it creates a positive habit of doing so – which is one of the main philosophical mantras of TAC.

Once you’ve finished the 30 Days To Play, make sure that you take advantage of the other Skills Courses (located along the left side menu). I would recommend any of the “Jumpstart” courses as the next step, and keep in mind that there are 2 pages of these Skills courses – it’s your journey and your path – you can do what ever you want on this site – have fun!
