  • Marzipan Magpie – The SWR

Posted by Fletch on November 7, 2022 at 2:12 am

A carefree little ditty @stevep , @JulieI and myself put together at the weekend, ‘Marzipan Magpie’.

It’s a ‘Mother and Daughter’ tune, based on the Magpie Nursery Rhyme (you all know the one… “One for Sorrow, Two for Joy… etc.)

Dedicated to our Julie, I hope you all enjoy it’s feelgood factor… (I know, so not me )

    Lyrics :

    One for the morrow
    Two for Joy
    Three for a girl
    For you to enjoy
    Wishes and Kisses
    Silver and Gold
    All in her Story
    Yet to be told

    One is a gift
    Too Cherish and Hold
    Three for a girl
    For all to behold
    Bestow and show
    Love that won’t die
    Keeping her safe
    Marzipan mag – pie

    Health and wealth
    Share all you know
    Surprises not to miss
    As you let her grow
    Time
    To let her try
    Time
    Marzipan mag – pie

    One for a child
    Too Embrace
    Three for a girl
    For all your grace
    Support and taught
    Through joy and cry
    Guiding her way
    Marzipan mag – pie

    Health and wealth
    Share all you know
    Surprises not to miss
    Bath in her glow
    Time
    To let her fly
    Time
    Marzipan mag – pie

    One is the future
    Too make you proud
    Free is the woman
    For virtue found
    Rooted securely
    With wings to fly
    Forever your heart
    Marzipan mag – pie

      Here you go Mr.Kit… 😀

(It’s based on how many Magpies you see together… Obviously a Marzipan one is Special though)

      One for sorrow,

      Two for joy,

      Three for a girl,

      Four for a boy,

      Five for silver,

      Six for gold,

      Seven for a story,

      Yet to be told.

      Eight for a wish,

      Nine for a kiss,

Ten a surprise you should be careful not to miss,

      Eleven for health,

      Twelve for wealth,

Thirteen beware, it’s the devil himself.

I wasn’t familiar with the nursery rhyme either @Fletch , so thank you for telling it here. By seeing the rhyme, I can appreciate what a wonderful job you guys did in “building” a song from it, BRAVO SWR PROJECT👏🎺🎉📯🔔👏!!! It was also a great pleasure to hear all of your voices together in one song👍🥂 Cheers to all of you.

It was a fun little ditty to write, and your right, getting our Julie to sing is always a result… 😀
