Fret’s
Posted by punkusmhotmail-com on December 4, 2022 at 8:29 pmMy small win today was that I have figured out my confusion, and it is on Tonys fret board. 2 markers that look to me like the 12th fret. There are two sets of double dots on your guitar and are not on the 12th fret. I have never seen a neck marked like this.

Hi @punkusmhotmail-com I never noticed that there was 2 sets of dots on Tony’s guitar. The first set is on the 7th fret and the second set is on the 12th fret.

The second one is not even on the 12th fret. Today, Tony has a different guitar than yesterday’s lesson, I thought I was having a flashback, lol.

Different guitars have different markings. On mine its 5, 7, 9, 12 , and 14

Hi @punkusmhotmail-com , that design is typical of a Martin fretboard. I have a 00015m and the design on the fretboard is 2 diamonds on the 5th, 1 diamond on the 7th and 2 diamonds on the 9th – giving a symmetrical design look to the observer.
-
My Martin is not like that, the fret markers are on the side, not the fret board, still very interesting.
-
Yes @punkusmhotmail-com , my fret markers are on the side also, but on the face of the fretboard is the “design” that I described.
-
I guess there is many different configurations.

I’ve seen that, too. One of his guitars has double markers on the 9th fret. It threw me, too. He was saying 8th or 9th fret but it looked like he was at the 11t & 12th. 🤔
Gotta keep an eye on that boy!! 😉

Thank you, I am not the only one, not a big deal, but when he was saying fret positions, it didn’t seem to match. Just interesting that all fret boards are not the same.

I didn’t mean to start this conversation, but it was my small win at the time.

I have been absent from my daily lesson, I am nursing my wife back to health. Be back soon. Thanks for the comments on the fretboard.
