Dog ear
Posted by campfire on January 6, 2023 at 9:55 amLOL. My granddaughter played an guitar while I was playing. She asked if my guitar had a “dog ear” on it. I didn’t know what she meant, but when I looked at my guitar I see what she means by ‘dog ear.’ LOL..
Is that what it’s really called?

@campfire you’ll have to attach a picture of your guitar. I had to google guitar dog ears and there is such a thing all to my surprise.

It’s the guitar pick protector. My classical guitar doesn’t have one. I think I’ll keep calling it a dog ear. I like that. 🙂

That makes sense. It is the pick plate to protect the guitar. My classical doesn’t have it. Think I’ll call it a ‘dog ear’ . I like that better.
thanks,

The pick guard does look like a pick guard. I never noticed that before

Lol – it would be very funny when someone shows you their new guitar if you said “it’s got a mighty fine dog era!” 🤣

I like dog ear too, especially since your granddaughter came up with it.

What I like is granddaughters and music. You can’t go wrong with that combination.
Throw in a Dog Ear just for spice.
