Simple Man (Lyndard Skynard)
Posted by Philb on February 13, 2023 at 8:34 amThis is the intro, first 2 verses, and the chorus. I played each section differently to try to make it a little more interesting since it is just with an acoustic guitar. Nothing can help my vocals. 😂

Thanks for listening, and the kind words. I forgot to mention that it is in E flat tuning; just tuning every string down a half step. I had never played in that tuning before. Fun to experiment. I also spelt Lynyrd Skynyrd wrong. The d in Lynyrd was just a typo; but the a’s in both names instead of the y was brain fatigue; getting old 😜.

I didn’t notice it was a half step down until I went to strum along to the chords. Make it sound a bit more ominous. Never realized they tuned down for that song.

I didn’t realize they used that tuning either until I was set on learning it. It does change the tone, the mood. I had never thought I would be trying different tuning. Since being in TAC I think I have now tried different ones.

Thanks! It is through TAC I have learned different techniques and how to apply them. It makes it more interesting.

I would easily be able to recognize this song even without the lyrics. Nice work

Great job phil it takes a lot of guts to do this and your playing great!

I like the mixing and experimenting. The result is a fun piece. Thanks for sharing and especially taking the time to record and post. And I know it is satisfying even to have a vocabulary to describe what you are doing.
