Redo old challenges?
Posted by kd61698gmail-com on March 4, 2023 at 3:21 pmI was called away from playing for about 2 weeks and wanted to pick up where I left off. I didn’t see where that was possible. example, today is march 4 and I wanted to go back and view and play Feb 24th challenge. Can we do that? Thank you!

At the end of the month they disappear, but they circle back around within a year, if you can find someone that favorited it you can go to their profile and access it. in the future if you want to save a challenge, click the little heart on the bottom right of the challenge screen, that will save it to your profile under “favorites”.

These lessons are not linear they are circular. There is no start, no finish. If I miss lessons I have learned to just keep going. In reality I may have missed some lessons but the information will not be lost to me. It will come around again and in the meantime I have all these cool lesson coming up. I found my progress was fastest when I hit the lesson as hard as I felt necessary (time and boredom were my definers of “necessary”) and then move on. It hasn’t gotten old yet.

Thank you both, very helpful. I actually “liked” a couple of my lessons, so I can go and find them.

Yeah it’s super annoying, they should at least let you go back a rolling 4 weeks or something instead of just removing access when the month turns over. I do a couple of things. I ‘like’ them – but I now have a bunch of liked lessons and have no idea what they actually are from the names. So what I started doing is downloading the tab and renaming it (like adding ‘Scale-GM’ to the front, or ‘Cool bluesy lick’, or’ john mayer slappy thing’) so I can remember what it was I liked about it. Then I save all those tabs in a folder on my computer and can pop them up. And if I liked it in TAC I can go find it and listen to it also, but most of the time I just use the tab that I saved.

Hey @kd61698gmail-com and @DiscostewLA ;
Eventually, you will realize that “missing” a lesson or even a few weeks of lessons just isn’t a problem due to how Tony’s method works.
It isn’t important that you ever master a lesson or remember a lesson or incorporate a lesson into a song, whether a cover or an original. What’s important is if you simply do the exercises for a few minutes each day, it will improve your guitar skills across the board without hardly trying or even noticing. That’s why small wins are so important. You have to actively look to realize that you are in fact growing slowly but steadily with the TAC program. It’s not a specific skill that you’re trying to learn. You just get better at playing guitar the way you want to play and you will find your own sound.
If there are lessons that teach a specific skill that you want to improve upon and pursue in your guitar journey, then by all means favorite that lesson and revisit it. Otherwise, just do the dailies when ever you are available and forget the rest.
And yes, the lessons come back around. But that’s not important as no individual lesson is really important per se. But I’ve already said that, so what’s important? Have fun. Get better. That’s it.

Hello @N-lightMike, I totally agree with you. “Forget the rest” is my approach as well. Otherwise I´d feel behind 365 days a year. This year even 366 days ;-). Letting go of challenges without regret is not always easy, but essential for me. I only favourite a few challenges related to songs I learn. Because they are stepstones learning the song – not because they are unfinished challenges.

I agree that the majority of the time the lessons come and go as the months roll by the that is fine. However, I’ve used favorites in the software and they are somewhat difficult to navigate since the titles are somewhat cryptic. There are songs that I work on in my song list, and I like going back and do parts from those lessons. I just save the emails with the links for the months or bookmark lessons I want it works fine.

I found favorites problematic so I instead created a spreadsheet and copy the links to each lesson. I add the title, my notes, etc.

there is usually a link at the bottom of Tony’s emails for TAC, see pic and sending the link…

I hear you kd61698gmail-com. I am not ‘worried’ about missing a lesson, but some of them resonate and I want to go back to them. Here is the secret: hit the ‘heart’ button. That will save it to your loved list and you can go back to your favorite lessons. I also make sure to print my favorites so I can cycle through them throughout the day or during weekends.
Keep Strummin’!
