Lesson structure: I’m ADD, help!
Posted by Gordon419 on March 23, 2023 at 12:39 pmDoing the “30 day to play” course was great – I finish one, and the next was right there…in order. Now I’m all over the place (squirrel!). I tend to do the daily challenge, then want to continue the skills courses, but in what order?
Is there any sort of sequence of lessons/skills anyone can recommend? We ADD types are results driven, which makes us go too fast and get sloppy, then frustrated.

Aloha Gordon, Under the Skills Courses you’ll find a Getting Started category, which gives a brief introduction of the lesson group (and recommend order) and access to all 6 courses (some of which your already doing (be sure to take your small win for that). I found early on I benefited from at least walking through the Daily Challenges each morning, but then focusing on the Getting Started stuff until I completed them. That way, I established my routine, learned the basics quickly and saw interesting stuff to go back to later (and Daily Challenges do come around again). But remember to always keep the “having fun priority” and that practice make progress (whether you realize it when it’s happening or not).

I CAN TELL YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE… Tony’s next workshop the first week of April (as I recall check website). I’ve been doing TAC a few years and this workshop and interface with the TAC community is where you begin to supplement you own guitar journey with self directed goals supported by the Daily Challenge, Skills Courses, etc. Check it out even if you have to do so after the fact on video. But it is more fun live.

I’ll have to come back to it, I’ll be on a cruise.
Thank you for the information.

@Gordon419 Welcome to TAC, and congratulations on completing the 30 days to play. The daily lessons are important to build a practice routine, and having Add, you should appreciate the structure of the week with every Monday being Technique, every Tuesday aLick, Every Wednesday a scale and improv, every Thursday on Rhythm, and every Friday Chord transitions.
As for the skills courses, I found the Jumpstart courses to be very beneficial in the beginning. The order you take any skills courses is up to each individual. What are your interests and goals. The suggestion of participating in the quarterly guitar party is great, because there is a focus on your next 90 days and setting goals.
Good luck with whatever direction you choose.

Thank you Loraine, I take in every little piece of advice like a sponge. Everyone who’s offered even a little bit of advice/support has not gone unnoticed. I seem to be in a good grove now, and am really enjoying TAC.
