I was quite impressed with myself by how much noise I was able to make only using 2 chords, a thumb, and one finger.

For anyone wondering the song is from 1984 so it’s probably about Ronald Reagan

Good demonstration of a driving Bass of which Tony is so fond. Sounds like your inner political satire ground hog is peaking out from underground and you are having fun with it.

Blaze Foley said the song wasn’t really about anyone specific. He is a backwoods kind of guy who probably doesn’t trust any politician from either side. I just thought Reagan because a couple lines where he says “he’s a movie star if you stay up late“ and “ he’s a real cowboy with his make up on”. It’s just kind of a cynical political song sung by a guy who’s too cool to care.

I just thought that it had a cool rhythm tone. Sometimes I have to take a break from strumming so I work on fingerpicking a little bit. It seems to be a different type of arm cramp so you can just switch to the other style when your arm gets tired lol

I definitely didn’t play the song the real way exactly the pattern it was supposed to be. I just kind of threw my hand at it adjusting on the fly and freestyled some thing that I thought sounded cool

@That_Guy – Jason, not familiar with this tune or Blaze Foley but really like it. It’s one of those “pick’n & grinning” songs😄. Enjoyed your playing and thought your vocals fit the lyrics perfectly.

I don’t think Blaze Foley was everr that popular but he was the original artist of the song clay pigeons that John Prine popularized. I think he was shot and killed in the late 80s in a dispute over money.
