Stand By Me
Posted by Loraine on October 14, 2023 at 11:38 amJust learned this song. Haven’t figured out how to add percussive slaps to beats 2 & 4, but I tried to make it sound like the song. Syncopation is different. Most lyrics begin on 3rd beat, but then it switches to 1st beat.

Thanks @paul21 . I’m trying to play the song with percussive slaps on beats 2 & 4, which would make it sound more like the regular song. But it’s going very slow and is hard trying to play where it sounds syncopated and then to put vocals to it, seems impossible.. In the meantime, this is simply my own rendition of the song.

You look like you hold your pick so lightly. How do you not drop it?

@Skyman911 Gorilla Snot- It’s the best thing ever invented. Your pick will not leave your hand. It’s like a tree sap that you rub your thumb and index in, and then place your pick as normal in your hand and loosened your grip. No need for a death grip, and the pick sounds better when strumming. You can purchase at Amazon or any music store. I’ve tried a lot of different things, and this works the best.
The other thing I often do is had Sticky Dots to my picks (one on both side). They’re $5 at Guitar Moose. You can try other brands that are cheaper, but these work the best in my opinion.

We are standing by you. Quicker on the chord changes for sure. Some day you throw in a break!

Great job Loraine and thanks for the pic tip. I use Dunlop Gator grip pics but after a few days of picking they smooth out. I don’t like throwing out my pics unless they round out to much or break.
