Big win – NAMM (day 1)
I was lucky enough to be invited by Martin to be a guest at NAMM this year. I got to attend the press event today (and walk around the event while everyone is setting up) and will go back tomorrow for the full experience. Today was awesome. I met some of the many wonderful folks that have inspired and taught me – and shake the hands of some very cools folks. Here’s a short list: C.F. Martin IV, Thomas Ripsam, Mary Spender, John Chapman, and the coolest experience of today~ as I was leaving I walked by the Santa Cruz booth and saw Richard Hoover there working on setting up a display case (yes – he was actually there setting up his own booth!). I stopped to say hi and share my appreciation for his work and contribution to guitar and music and he invited me to sit down and chat for a bit. He was kind and open and generous with his time and it was great to hear about his story and path to where he is now and the passion he still has for making special instruments. There was all sorts of stuff happening all around us (there is no equaling the noise of setup day at NAMM!) but for about 15m, the only thing that was happening in my world were me and Richard Hoover chatting about guitars. What a treat!
(p.s. If anyone is going to be at NAMM tomorrow (Thursday) and wants to do a TAC meetup/photo please let me know)
