I have really long fingers and thumbs, so this part is not hard for me. Note that you don’t actually have to curl your thumb over. You can just pinch the string with the side of your thumb. It doesn’t feel like it should work but it does.

Hi Tony,
I find it easier for me to grab the second fret of the low E with my middle finger with the ring finger on the second fret of the high E and pointer on the first fret of the B; the pull middle finger to the second fret of the G. Am I going I going to run into problems later doing it this way?

Dan,
I used to do that exact fingering before I trained my thumb to kind of wrap around 🙂 I don’t see a problem with that unless it starts to make some of the transitions difficult.
