  1. Tony,

In the instruction video for measure 14, you suggest using the ring finger to slide from 3 to 5, yet in the Slow, Medium, and Fast videos you slide using the middle finger. Is the thinking here to use the ring finger because the ring finger is typically used on the 3rd fret, which is where the slide begins? And is that why we slide from 3 to 2 using the middle finger because we finish on the 2nd fret, the same finger typically used on the 2nd fret? It seems like we could slide from 3 to 5 using the ring, then slide from 3 to 2 using the index, which leads into the G-Chord in measure 16 with ease. And this ultimately leads me to my main question: Are there still rules we need to follow when we break the rules?

    1. Andrew,

This is a great question/comment. I would approach this with whatever feels natural… Often times I try and keep a rule, only to find that during performance I sacrifice it for what feels natural and makes sense to me at the time. In this case, both options are fine it really depends on what helps you feel most centered and confident around this playing position. I hope this suggestion helps… its funny because many times I will write things one way, but when it comes to actually playing them at tempo what I do changes between slow and fast… So my parting words… know the rules so you can bend them to fit your style and comfort 🙂

      Cheers,
      Tony

    2. I find it more comfortable to perform the slide with the middle finger since that’s the finger I use for the notes at the 7th and 5th frets just before. What is already in motion tends to want to stay in motion…

  2. Section 6 and 7, wow these have been a challenge for me. Been on this song a bit. I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

  3. This has been a tough Challenge for me,you really have to take your time to try and string these sections together well. This section really sounds good when it finally comes together smoothly.

    1. james,

I am glad you are digging into this one!!! The stringing together of sections takes a bit but it sounds like you are on the right track!!!

      Cheers,
      Tony
