Monday, November 30
Monday is warmup day. During warmup day you will learn an exercise that you should start every day of the week off with. The exercises are invaluable in strengthening your fingers, building dexterity, helping your hands communicate with one another, and overall developing an elevated tactile awareness of your guitar. Once you learn this exercise, it is worth repeating at the start of every day of the following week, it will help catapult your playing for sure!!!

Hi Tony,
I’m an experienced electric player but wanted to play more acoustic and improve my finger picking. I really enjoy your approach, thank you. I do have 2 questions. Can you add a button so we can print all of the month’s tabs? I’d like to keep them in a binder. My other question is if it is possible to put all of the month’s techniques into a composition that incorporates all of the lessons? Thanks and est wishes for a healthy and happy New Year. Glenn
Glenn,
Thank you so much!!! I am glad you are here and pursuing fingerpicking!!! With the way the tabs are stored within the site, they are separate files, however they are all printable from their respective screens. As for the technique/song tie in I think you will dig the way the weeks will be laid out for 2016. Each week will have a technique focus, and one of the weeks will be kind of a prep for the tune of the month. I hope this helps explain and if you have any further questions just holler 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Hey, great stuff, what do the letters on the tabs mean? p=pinky, i=index M=middle what is a?
Also how do you access the archives?
Jeffrey,
Thanks for your question the letters work as follows: P=Thumb, I=Index, M=Middle, A=Ring. For the archives you can go to your drop down menu at the top under dashboard, hover over practice plan and then you will see “view archives” This will take you to a list of everything ever gone over in the practice plans 🙂 Or you can follow this link: http://tonypolecastro.com/practice-plan/
Cheers,
Tony
I’m a true newbie. There’s no way I’m going to get through this in December. Since I paid for Decembers practice month, will I be able to access this always or will I lose Decembers practice session come January 1. Thanks Eric
Eric,
No worries at all, you will be able to access December’s plan for always!!! Take your time with it and do your best. Make sure to let me know if you have any questions or need a hand 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Thanks Tony, this is a great warmup! Question: Would it be possible to have a button on the site that stops the snowflakes when you click it?
Paul,
I am glad you dig the warmup!!! Unfortunately it is all or nothing with the snow 🙂 We just have until Jan 1st and the snow will vanish… at least on the site anyway 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Tony You are already getting this feedback from the few people on this site…but these exercises are definitely not for a true beginner. Fortunately I am not//so I like the exercise but the slow version would be helpful if it was in fact “slow”. I’m trying out your program to see if i want to keep it. So far it has me a bit worried that it is a bit too advamced for me but I’m game to try for a few days. If you could rank your song list in terms of “easy” “medium” “advanced” that would be very helpful for all of us. That way Id know which ones to try. Thanks
Virginia,
Thank you for your feedback!!! I am glad you wrote in, we were just speaking this morning about ranking the individual exercises in terms of level (A change we will implement gradually). The song lessons are already ranked Easy, Intermediate, and Advanced of course depending on their arrangement and difficulty. The slow versions of the exercises are done at 60BPM, the medium at 80BPM, and the fast 100BPM, if you happen to be working with a metronome. Generally I will go through them even slower in the explanation, but not always so I will try to integrate that more.
Cheers,
Tony
too difficult for a starting exercise
Mike,
This one is a doozy for sure, make sure to give it the best you have and then if you are wanting to check out some other warmups you can visit the archives for some more acoustic warmup goodness 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
