Playing from Alanson, Michigan (northeast of Petoskey)! Been wandering from teacher to teacher and find Tony’s way the best. Dabbling for 5 years. Haven’t mastered it yet. Just want to have fun!
I am from Winter Haven Florida. I have played guitar in the past. Took some lessons and learned more form a few friends that were in a band. Learned by being taught songs similar to what you method appears to be. Started again today for the first time in over 35 to 40 years. Fingers are sore after just 10 minutes. Some unintentional dubbing of strings. Time is short for me so I have to make time. Hope to strengthen finders with the practice.

How is someone supposed to do these daily challenges if you are a complete beginner? I don’t know anything about the different chords. It actually turns me away from joining TAC.

Ben From Denver. I have been “journeying” for about a year and a half. I enjoy the platform, was a member some time ago. I found that if I missed a day, it was difficult or I didnt just have the knowledge to go back and find it. Also if it takes me a few days or a week to get the first part down, I am already behind because I have missed the following days lessons. It was frustrating.

I’m back sampling these sessions after a year or two on then off of Tony’s program (though I have kept practicing). I like the idea of learning a familiar song of a favorite artist. The alternative G-C chord fingering is a cool thing to learn, and a challenge to adapt to.

I’m struggling, still on the first lesson, getting a bit better but barely noticeable.
I’m very new at this, my fingers are quite tender, I’m still building calluses which limits my play time also my fingers seem like they’re too short,
Not giving up, just think you should know what level I’m at.

I am aware that this is a free lesson and most of the time one doesn’t get something for nothing, but I thought, after listening to Tony numerous times, I thought that I would at least be able to understand what is going on. I’m not sure what chords I’m supposed to be playing? It looks like C and G, but what is the very first 4 strums?

Holy Crap that was hard! This was my first time on your site. I’m 56 years old and tried and failed twice earlier in life to learn guitar. That new way of going G without the index finger was hard (my brain still remembers the traditional way to do G from 12 years ago. Going from your new way to do G to the new C chord you taught looks easy but was not as easy as it looked.

Try the Fender app for your phone. I also didn’t know how to tune till a google search.
I live in Lakewood Washington. I am sorry but I never heard of this song, so it is exciting to be able to learn a new song and to practice with you. I have been trying to learn how to play for a long time. I know some things and when I practice with you on this exercise, I find it hard to remember to put my pointing finger on the C note B string of the C chord because I am used to removing my third finger off of the G note E string to go to the C note on the A string. They seem to go together. I am enjoying playing along and being able to change up the speed so I can practice getting it right. Thanks 1st day with you.
