    You’ve learned a valuable lesson there @Dirk_R as I’ve found as well. Concentrating “too much” can cause the brain and the body to go out of synch. The same is true if you have a “death grip” on the neck. Nope, the guitar is a relaxed instrument and you should try to be relaxed when you play it. Not paying attention to where you have to put down the fingers will, after a bit of slow and concentrated practice, come naturally if you let the body do the leading and leave the mind out of it. I don’t know if that’s true for everyone but it certainly works for me (and you too it sounds like)!
