    The Sheltering Tree

    Battle life’s storms to face or to flee
    The path revealed ‘neath the sheltering tree
    Together we conquer tempest on our knees
    Learn to stride in the wind supported and free

    Worries and troubles shared and foreseen
    Burdens lightened ‘neath the sheltering tree
    Underwritten problems lose their might
    Darkness defeated together through the night

    Around the table enduring friends we find
    Seasoned companions worlds intertwined
    Conversations flows our masks set free
    Friendship thrives ‘neath their sheltering tree

    Speaking with passion they don’t have to agree
    Never offended ‘neath the sheltering tree
    They hold up a mirror showing your heart
    Better than any poet or any work of art

    No need to explain no apologies to please
    Judgment absent ‘neath the sheltering tree
    They’re all we have as we strive
    Our only hope to see in the afterlife

    Around the table enduring friends we find
    Seasoned companions worlds intertwined

    There is no duty no reason or decree
    No claims of necessity ‘neath the sheltering tree
    With no apparent value yet they’re vital
    They bring everything a reason for survival

    Most excellent! The melody was so very, very good. I liked the way you brought in ethereal backing vocals. The 12 string was a great choice; making the right voice.
