  • A Piece of My Routine

I heard this and though it may not be true for everybody it was like a light bulb when I heard it. When I first sit down to play my brain is ready but my fingers aren’t warmed up so I work on things that will take time to learn. Right now the patterns to find matching notes. After I do challenges like that awhile my fingers are now warmed up and my brain well , lets just say its ready to move on, lol. That’s when I move on to speed challenges and practice my progressions. I find when I do that, not only do I learn more but I retain everything better and it actually sounds better. I play at least an hour a day normally 2 or 3 and sometimes all day Saturday and Sunday.

@Salty , practicing with notes to a melody is a good way to train your ear. Happy playing

Thanks for sharing @Salty – getting the fingers and brain into gear makes the remainder of the session go much better!
