Al Capo….no longer a gangster but a new friend.
Im not much of a singer, in fact some would say Im definitely not! All of my songs , though, (about 5) are folk songs from the 60s and before and require me to croak (ooops sing) them. One of the many small wins im having during my 95 days here is using a capo. I used to poooh pooh them for some obscure reason but now the capo is a friend indeed. One of the many things that is hard for me is to not sound boring. by adjusting the capo a fret here and a fret there my key changes which gives the illusion that Im playing in a refreshing new way even though my fingerstyle is essentially the same. The other thing is that now im singing each song in a key that fits my voice. this is a major win. by practicing everyday I was able to adjust the capo a fret or two up or down which resulted in much better or more tolerable singing. All hail the might capo!
