AttyTJ- How I Routine with TAC
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I play every day, and have missed only 2 in the last 800.
2.) What time of day do you play?
I have time set aside (30 min) every afternoon at 2:30, but I actually use that if I have not done it yet. Usually I play in the morning before starting work and meetings from home.
3.) Where do you play?
I have been allowed to take over the “Dog” room, previously occupied by my Son’s and Daughter-in-Law’s dogs when they were living with us. I have 3 mics, an AI, computer and software and cameras for recording and posting and Zoom meetings, like the VOM’s.
4.) How has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
– By starting each day with stretching, and then the TAC lesson, I have my mind in place to play. Many of the lessons don’t excite me, but when they do, then it is usually a longer, more fun session. Skills I had not considered get done every week, and thus, improvement is happening, even when the lessons are not what I love.
– By doing it regularly, it has become routine. I play the lesson, and sometimes record it. I then work on the Goal (Finger Picking) at least 10 minutes (even if only working on learning a classical piece still beyond my ken.)
– The Routine of playing so much means that my fretting is usually unconscious except when working on new or difficult chords or patterns. The Strumming/ Picking/ Fingers all get worked, and progress is happening at finding strings, or creating patterns in the sound. All are because I am doing it every day.
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
My Dog, Wegeman, bringing his ball to chew in my lap while playing to make sure he doesn’t miss bombing any Zoom or FaceTime conference I am on.
My Guitar Room, My Zoom. Bombing Puppy, Wegeman, and me with my oldest Guitar
