Well, finally got to the F and B Barre Cords in the 30 Day Program. Granted I’m new to this but when I can only play thuds with my index finger holding the first and second frets of the Barre, I’m wondering if I should be doing any of this at all. Thinking maybe its me (my fingers) or the guitar that is the problem or both. I struggle with the Mini F Barre but this is way beyond me. Any clues or suggestions would be helpful.

@MMMURRAY Your post made me smile, but in a really good way. I remember the same period in playing where they were just impossible to play. It typically is not the guitar, unless you need a set up to make it easier to fret. You need to build the strength in your fingers, and then you need to play around with placement of fingers and your index finger. My suggestion is simply to keep trying and practicing. You will eventually hit the sweet spot and make a clear barre chord. There are many players, experienced ones too, that have difficulty and dread barre chords, but I say they can be fun to learn and play once your do find that sweet spot. So just add it to your daily or weekly regime to practice them and keep on plunking.

Loraine, Again, thanks for your encouragement. I just finished watching this weeks Acoustic Tuesday Show and enjoyed listening to the words of wisdom near the end when the speaker talked about taking the 10 minute break and Tony mentioned making it a routine to keep practicing as you so eloquently stated. I will keep plucking away!
