  • Best Dreadnought

Posted by xiao-bai on November 16, 2022 at 10:40 pm

I’m moving back to the UK and in April. I’ve got a few guitars but am looking forward a good solid workhorse that’ll not be too fragile, have great sound and playability and have a good comfortable neck.

I can spend over $1000 bucks but I’ve recently learned money doesn’t necessarily mean the best.

I do have a Tanglewood Evolution Bubinga for fingerstyle, a Jim Dandy for bluesy stuff and a Samik classical but looking for a good dreadnought for live performance and also in the studio.

    Any recommendations?

this is just my opinion, but I had an Epiphone inspired by gibson hummingbird. It was loud, tough and sounded great! If you check one out make sure it is the “inspired by Gibson” model . the price is in your range and I dont think you will be disappointed. Otherwise I would save up and buy a slightly used Martin d18 or d 28. Again just my opinion. Thanks for reading this

Hi @xiao-bai , have a look at the Alvarez line of guitars. IMO you get a solid good sounding guitar at a very reasonable price.

Have to put in my plug for a Canadian made guitar line – I’ve heard so many folks rave about their Seagull models. They are made in Quebec by Godin Guitars, who also produce the Art & Lutherie, Simon and Patrick, and Norman lines. There are several choices in your price range, but I wouldn’t know how available they are in your market area. My Seagull is a Concert Hall size, and I love it, but their dreadnaught models are very well reviewed as well.

Have had great luck with Blueridge and Eastman. When you get back to Europe, check out Sigma.

I am playing a older Epiphone Masterbilt. When I see it, I just want to pick it up and play 🙂

Orangewood guitars. Reasonably priced, set up well, easy to play and sound fantastic.
