Big small win!
Yesterday we went to a “Celebration of Life” for the wife of a close friend. There was a guitar over in the corner so I was peaking inside the opened case when the owner came over and asked if I played. I answered in the affirmative as my friend came over to introduce us and told her I was “really good”. Yikes says I “I’m just a novice”. One thing led to another and long story short I went home (10 minute walk),came back w/guitar and played in front of real people for the 1st time. I basically accompanied the woman on 10-12 songs as she had all the tunes printed but it turned out to be great fun. We will be playing together again at some point but probably not with a audience next time.

Wow! That you could spontaneously accompany someone on 10-12 songs is impressive. That being your first time before people is a big win. I would say you are more than a novice. Way to go!

Sounds like you handled it all in stride.
My 2 cents– Maybe deep inside– we all want to someday have that happen to us- (like a moth to a flame). Actually- we’ve earned it…… and will do well!

Very impressive, alright! I’d have to agree that you can stop saying you’re a novice – I’d be pretty happy just to play one song, by myself, in front of people. Now that you’ve “broken the ice” the sky is the limit!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. At one point the woman said “Come on…what’s the worst that could happen?” I said “Well I could sweat through my shirt and pee my pants but let’s get it over with.” It worked out well. Thanks again to this great community of support.
