Chord library
Posted by par3eagl on April 12, 2026 at 11:50 amIs there a chord library easily accessible Within TAC? Specifically trying to learn the Old Man song this week. Trying to find finger position for F and E7?

Here is a resource of chord charts that I have used in the past:

I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to make an F Major or a B major chord. I’m super discouraged.. Maybe guitar isn’t for me. I’ve tried for 6 months,. F is such a crucial chord. Not sure if it’s my guitar or me. Pretty sure it’s me… Any suggestions??

So many ways to make chords. If you talking F-mini which is what is shown as the F chord here and for many other challenges, don’t be discouraged as it is something most struggle with. It took me close to a year to get fairly consistent with it.
For the B chord I use an A shape barre chord and it’s not terribly difficult for me, however, many people struggle with it a lot. So you’re in good company.
Don’t worry yourself too much about what you can’t do, turn your focus towards things that you have learned since starting. I find myself getting surprised a lot being able to do stuff that was impossible just a short while ago. Am I a great player? No! But I have come a long way thanks to TAC!

I used to say this too. So have many that have come before you. You CAN learn these chords. Like @petelanger mentioned, there are different ways to play the F chord. If you can form a C chord, you can do a modified F chord. Try the easy way first, and then keep working on the full F chord. And, I would highly encourage you to keep working on the full F chord. That chord shape is extremely versatile all up and down the neck. Move that same chord shape two frets, and you’re playing a G, two more, you’re playing an A and so forth. Be diligent. You can do this, but it takes time and baby steps. Once you start getting the feeling of barre chords, the other barre chord shapes come a bit easier. Such as the B major chord. That is a difficult shape to make for sure.

Remember that everyone struggles with the barres. They are HARD! It will definitely take longer to master them and the progress will be slow sometimes and you’ll even regress now and then. Be consistent, don’t focus too much on them as there are literally 1000’s of great songs that do not use them. I’m usually working on 3 or 4 songs as part of my practice… it isn’t as fun when it’s just drills… and you can see progress on those songs as the result of our AC weekly challenges. Pick out some easy songs and work one or two into your routine… it helps me remember why I’m doing all this.

Hey Glenn keep on plugging away at that F as you will need it for many songs down the line. But as others have said dont panic if it isnt coming together for you right away, its the hardest of the cowboy chords because of that mini barre, and it takes a good while before its comfortble. My advice for now is to maybe put off learning too many songs with an F (unless theres one that really important for you) and focus on songs that have chords youre more comfortable with right now. There are hundreds of songs that can be played using that magic 1 4 5 chord progression in the key of G ie starting on a G chord and then any combination of D C Em and maybe Am . The G D Em C progression alone covers a ton of good tunes and these are all pretty doable chords that most people get down fairly quickly…certainly easier than the F anyway. Do a You tube search for easy songs in G and you’ll find lots. TAC is great and will result in steady progress esp related to skills and techniques in my opinion. Tony started doing song covers a few years ago which was awesome bc for me learning songs is really what its all about. Its a great accomplishment when you ve learned a song from beginning to end, including singing it (even if its just for the dog). Its also motivating and makes you want to learn another one…and then another.. But just as important to keep it simple at first and within your skill set so you dont get discouraged. Hope this help bro. Keep on rocking
