  • Daily Lesson – Video Download

Posted by colinc on March 29, 2021 at 8:52 am

Hi, I really enjoyed the lesson today. I found the TAB download and Favourite marker.

Play speed was only 80bpm ( the x1 button was not a viable option)

I cannot download the Video : is this a glitch or a “feature removed” please ?

They removed the feature because they said few people used it and they had too many tech inquiries about it. The people who did use it have been commenting about that. Some people work offline, and it’s a handy feature for them.

Thank you, dr_dave, this is both frustrating and disappointing. However, I won’t “shoot the messenger”; certainly not this one.

I am someone who lives right at the outer limit of “twisted-pair” copper wire broadband transmission capability. I really valued being able to download and watch continuous video rather than disjointed “live” transmission. Disk storage capacity today is simply no longer an issue.

This TAC capability was a major feature for me. Peak time live-viewing will only be feasible when we receive fibre-broadband. It was promised next year, … in 2016 !

It’s rather ironic; I live 35 miles from one of the world’s busiest international air-hubs, London Heathrow, and 8 miles from two of the UK’s major road arteries, M4 and M40. Yet I live with download speeds of 3.7Mb/s with an upload a giddy 700Kb/s.

The irony is I had superior communications technology serving on tours in Afghanistan during 2007, and 2008; …… although the mobile satellite-dishes under my OpCon were almost 5m/ (16ft) diameter towed by 8T trucks … 🤣.

Hey-ho, fibre-optic cable is coming. Until then, as long as there is a will, there will be a way…. 🤔

<div>Everyone in this community used the video download. This is something that will be on offer for sale shortly.</div><div>

We had 274 Mb/s with minimum overhead

@colin_c, it is not a great solution, but check out the old forums at tac.tonypolecastro.com, and search for people who pulled them down before, and you may get some ability to accomplish part of what you are trying to do. I think there are at least 2 with the full maggilla.

You might also mention to tech limitations at the help (Circled ? at the lower right), and maybe they have or are coming up with a solution for people with your limits.

@dr_dave is right, they decided too few of us ever downloaded, so the feature is not currently, generally, available.

I signed up recently, and work life has prohibited me from keeping a good routine. I was planning to download lessons so I could take them along during a camping trip (and regular weekend camping after that) and do some catch-up. Really bummed that I lost that capability before the first trip.

<div>I like the video download because then watching the video online it does not play well with the slow download speed. I hope that video downloads will be restored.

The video download was a BIG PLUS for me when I signed up. For some of the same reasons I have read in the comments. I think there is more to it than few people used the download feature.
